Proverbs 29: 25 talks about the dangers of fearing
others' opinions; it says that it will be a 'snare', a
trapping device. We all like to be affirmed and approved
of, and it is likely that we all, to some extent or another,
strive to ensure that others see us in a favourable light.
However, there are times when we have to go against
the crowd, stand alone and deal with the voices
without becoming ensnared.
God's answer in the second part of the verse is that
trusting in him protects us. Listen to how David
managed to take down a giant when he allowed God's
confidence within him to drown out his critics, and be
reminded of an extraordinary God who dwells in you.
